Former Auburn players help reveal corruption in college sports

This morning a story broke about four Auburn players who have admitted that they were paid to play at the school. It even goes beyond payment, as former Auburn defensive end Stanley McClover admitted that he was offered and accepted sexual favors from a woman during his Ohio State visit. This is all coming out because HBO is doing a story tonight on the state of college athletics in America, and Auburn seems to be the poster child. Below are some points I've put together for Auburn fans to look at and consider.

. 1.Former Auburn player Troy Reddick admitted to coaches asking him to change his major so his classes would not affect football practice. What is this world coming to? It makes no sense for Reddick to change what he wants to do because of scheduling. These coaches must have never seen the NCAA commercials that say this:

" Out of the 380000 NCAA student athletes, most of them will go pro in something other than sports."

It makes me sick. How could a grown adult ask a young adult to alter their future just so they can make it to practice on time? The saddest part is that Reddick actually did it. He was pressured by coaches to do it and Auburn's current head coach Gene Chizik could have very well been one of the people asking him to do that. He was an assistant at the time.

2. Stanley McClover is pretty much the only guy I remember out of the four that have come out to speak about this awful situation.  He has come out and admitted that he got paid four thousand dollars for the Iron Bowl one time. As a sports fan I would like to hope this is not true, but my hope has been lost.

It makes me wonder how much Cam Newton got paid. Let's not play stupid people, if some guy like Troy Reddick got paid, you know Cam got paid. It will be sad for all Auburn fans to look back and remember what kind of scumbags ran their program. My advice to Auburn fans is to stop supporting this. Do not buy tickets, jerseys, shirts, hats, etc. This is a corrupt system that takes advantage of teenagers and bribes them with money in hopes that they can some day play to support their families. Stanley McClover came from nothing and he admits it. I will never agree with him accepting sexual favors but if I was his age and needed money for my family and myself, of course I would take it.

I hope HBO helps open not just Auburn fans' eyes, but the country's eyes on how wrong this all is. Most people know I am a die-hard West Virginia fan and the day this happens to them, I am done. No more chants, no more games, and no more fun. I would never support a team that has a coaching staff full of businessmen instead of teachers and counselors who could help make a positive impact on a young adult's life.
Maybe you don't win The Iron Bowl with coaches with morals. You probably could not win the national championship either. You would win in the sense that you prepared your student athletes for not just the NFL, but for life in general. Because it goes beyond winning football games, it is about wanting the best for the students that you should love.

It has become obvious to me that some of the Auburn coaching staff lacks the care they should have for their students. Because this is no longer about the student-athletes. It is a business world, full of snakes who want you for your talent and not to help you succeed in life.

To Auburn fans, I am sorry. I hope you you stop funding something so awful. To the Alabama fans, I would just keep your mouth shut, cause you might be next.
